Let me start off by saying that the Little Saigon area of Orange County is absolutely the best for nail supply shopping, hands down.
Skylark Nails Supply is in a very popular shopping center in Garden Grove. It’s situated next to a restaurant called the Boiling Crab, which I know very little about except that it’s insanely crowded. I would avoid this shopping center on the weekends unless you like parking really far away from where you’re trying to go after circling a busy parking lot for what seems like an eternity.
The store itself is huge. It really doesn’t need to be as big as it is, and nail polish newbies might be intimidated. If you’re shopping for things other than polish, such as decals, nail blocks, or paper shoes for post-pedicure wear, Skylark definitely has you covered. The nail blocks I purchased were 6/$1. The ability to buy those things in bulk does save some money. They also have things like empty nail polish bottles, perfect for making your own!
The polish selection itself is not wonderful, but decent. They have a ton of New York Summer and Jade polishes. Also some really old Jessica polishes. Their selections of Essie, Orly, China Glaze and OPI left something to be desired. They had some striper nail art polishes and also a very small selection of CND polishes. If you’re on the hunt for something discontinued, this might be a place you want to stop. I found the coveted and hard to find China Glaze Channelesque at Skylark for somewhere around $2. They did have most of the 2010 holiday China Glaze collection as well (I snagged Party Hearty of course!).
Skylark Nails Supply is a fun place to go and poke around just to see what they have. If you’re looking for something specific, you’ll probably be disappointed. But it’s kind of like a garage sale– you go to scout the deals. Sometimes it’s a hit, sometimes it’s a miss. The customer service is pretty nonexistent. But if you pay with cash, they don’t charge sales tax. I believe they have a spending minimum to take plastic, so you’re best off taking cash.
